What is it?
Award in Education and Training – Level 3. Four learning workshops, plus a 15 minute Micro-teach Assessment.
Introduction to the Course
Are you new to the education and training sector without any prior teaching experience or qualifications? Are you thinking of developing yourself to be a trainer tutor or teacher whether it be in the workplace or in community education? Are you already a trainer / tutor and would like to become qualified?
The Award in Education & Training could take your career to the next level.
The Award in Education & Training (AET), replaces the Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS) qualification. AET is an introduction to teaching, knowledge-based qualification and has no minimum teaching practice requirement. Therefore, it may be undertaken by individuals who are not currently in a teaching or training role.
Who is it suitable for?
This qualification is designed for people who:
- Are not in a teaching role, or who have just started a teaching role;
- Want a qualification without a minimum teaching practice requirement.
What’s it all about?
The Award in Education & Training has 3 units that address the fundamental aspects of delivering inclusive education and training:

|Understanding and using inclusive teaching and learning approaches in education and training||6||3|
|Understanding assessment in education and training||3||3|
What are the entry requirements?
There are no formal entry requirements for this training course, although experience in the subject you wish to teach is beneficial. Good Literacy skills (Level 2) and being IT literate are desirable.
How long is the course?
It is delivered over 4 learning workshops, one workshop a week for 4 weeks, plus an additional workshop for Assessment. There a self-study element which is supported by digital resources.
How will I be assessed?
It will be assessed by assignments, workshop evidence, self-study and the planning and delivery of a 15 minute micro teach session.
Our next course starts on Wednesday 7th March 2018, 9.30am – 4pm.
You will also need to attend workshops on Wednesday 14th March, Wednesday 21st March and Wednesday 29th March.
The microteach assessment day for this course will be on Wednesday April 18th 2018.
