
About this assesor course:
If you assess learners’ knowledge, skills and competence in the workplace against industry or occupational standard, this assessor course is the industry standard qualification that you must hold. You must be able to work with 2 learners in the workplace to demonstrate your planning and assessment skills.
The course is delivered in 3 parts:
• 4 half-day workshops delivered via Zoom
• The completion of 3 assignments.
You will work with your allocated Learning Advisor to gather evidence of assessing with learners, including:
Planning assessments
Carrying out assessments using a range of methods, including observation in the workplace, work- product (producing or updating documents or records) and questioning.
Attending a standardisation meeting
Reflecting on your practice
Observation of an assessment visit

Related qualifications
Level 3 Award in Assessing Vocationally Related Achievement – is for teachers, tutors, trainers assessing at least 2 learners in a workshop or classroom situation. This qualification ensures you are developing skills to assess vocational skills, knowledge and understanding.
Level 3 Award in Assessing Competence in the Work Environment is for teachers, tutors, trainers assessing at least 2 learners in a workplace situation. This qualification ensures you are developing skills to assess occupational competence and skills knowledge and understanding against qualification or industry standards.
Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training – this course is for anyone looking to further develop their teaching, training and assessment practice including planning and delivering inclusive training, developing resources that meet curriculum and accessibility requirements, whilst teaching (or training) in a specialist area. Funding is available for people in Wales through a partnership with Coleg y Cymoedd.
