Questioning Techniques to Stretch and Challenge (£40+VAT)
Date 16th February 2022
Practical techniques for improving your learner’s critical thinking skills without leading them to the answers. Exploring what makes a good question, the verbs used in occupational standards and using the principles of Blooms Taxonomy to practice good questioning techniques.
This session is for tutors and assessors who want to use questioning techniques effectively with their learners. They will be able to:
- Identify what makes a good question
- Identify how we can use questioning to stretch and challenge learners
- Change how we question learners to ensure we challenge them at the right level

Dealing with Difficult Learners

Some learners complete all their work on time and turn up to every appointment. Others don’t! This workshop explains why some learners can be difficult and provides you with some tips and techniques you can use with your more challenging learners to keep them on track with their learning.
This session will enable participants to:
- Identify a range of potential difficulties experienced with learners
- Explain how our relationship style with our learners affects their response to us
- Manage conflict with learners through use of language
- Use techniques with learners to communicate assertively

It explores reasons why learners may not be completing work by deadlines set, how to deal with this and how learners can be given greater accountability through a SMART target setting approach.

Feedback for Development

Constructive feedback is essential to enable our learners to develop their knowledge and skills. It is important to provide feedback both verbally and in written form so that learners are clear with what to do next. We explore tips and techniques on how to give developmental feedback without demotivating our learners and how to record this.
